Monday Night Group’s Exciting Visit to The Royal Mint

Thanks to the CTM/RCT Unpaid Carers Short Breaks Fund, unpaid carers and those they care for from Spectacle Theatre’s Monday Night Group enjoyed an enriching and educational trip to The Royal Mint in Llantrisant on the last Monday of February.

The Royal Mint Experience gave the group a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how coins are made. During the 45-minute Guided Factory Experience, participants saw the journey of a coin from a blank to a finished product. They also explored the Interactive Exhibition, which showcases the history and craftsmanship behind British coinage. Highlights included viewing the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic medals and learning about the bravery and service medals awarded in the UK.

“Everyone really enjoyed the interactivity of the tour – especially striking their own coin. Seeing everyone relaxed at afternoon tea was the ‘icing’ on the cake,” said Michelle from Spectacle Theatre.

In addition to the guided tour, the group had the exciting opportunity to strike their own coins, creating a memorable keepsake from their visit. They also enjoyed a leisurely afternoon tea, providing a perfect chance to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences.

“I had a lovely time, thank you!” said Ann, a carer.

This trip was not only educational but also a great way for the Monday Night Group to bond and create lasting memories. Spectacle Theatre is committed to providing such enriching experiences that inspire creativity and learning.

“Had a fantastic time and Cody did,” added Tina, another carer.

The Monday Night Group meets weekly at 5pm at The Factory in Porth. So, if you’d like to explore your creative side, get involved!  For more information please email us info@spectacletheatre.co.uk.
